Three of The Best: Skipper Scope Gives The Three Players He Thinks Are Worth The $1.5M Salary Cap Hit

With the salary cap set to hit 10 million dollars next year, it got me thinking.

Is 1.5 mil the new 1 million dollar player?

And by that I mean is that what the top three players in the competition should be on?

If not already.

Is that a fair percentage of salary cap to spend on your best player?

Reports Clinton Gutherson & Viliami Kikau are in negotiations with their own and rival clubs the perfect example – and I hope they secure the bag.

But let’s use West Tigers as an example.

Who have historically struggled to attract big name players.

Would 1.5 million be enough to lure away the best off contract stars?

Probably not…

I believe there are three players that fall in to that category though who are not only worth the Bunsen, but deserve it right now

Nathan Cleary – This is a no brainer

He is at the perfect age of 23 and has knocked up 112 of the best already.

His rise is only continuing to trend up and I feel he could go down as one of the all time greats. Plus his body has held up well over his years in the league before injuring his shoulder in origin this year.

I’d be happy to pay 10 million over 6 years in a heartbeat for the Prince.

Tom Trjobevic – This May concern people due to his injury history, but in 2021 ‘Turbo’ has managed his body so much better.

Fullback is slowly turning in to the most important position on the field and TT’s ability to not only score but assist and get his defensive line in the right position is easily the best in the comp.

In saying that, I’d be more inclined to offer Turbo 6 mil over four years and monitor the next few years in particular.

When fully fit he’s proven he can be the best in the game.

Can Munster – No biased at all here because you know how much I love the Pres, but he’s the third.

Proven winner at all three levels.

Plus his ability to cover multiple roles at every level as well.

Munster was born to compete and even on his off games you know he’s given ya his best effort.

Plus I know for fact he’s played through injuries others wouldn’t. You don’t even need the best structure for him to flourish because he’s an out and out Rugby League player.

6 mil over four as well for me mate. With a few bonus bets in his NEDS account for performance based incentives.

So many more names are on the cusp including Kalyn Ponga, Latrell Mitchell & Harry Grant to name a few.

Who would be your top 3?
