Whilst living in the UK for two years, I found in the first 12 months I could add little to the chat on coffee breaks in between training sessions.
Mostly, because I was totally unaware of the reality TV show ‘Love Island’ and how popular it was.
I’m talking from 10 year olds to fully grown rugby league players – everyone was gossiping about the show.
So in my second year I made sure not to miss out on the first episode. Beauty, hooked from the opening pairings.
This led to me crying during an episode when my fav couple left the villa after an emotional dismissal around the fireplace.
The fact that I just got back from a five day Larry in Ibiza might of played a part as I was having the come down of doom.
But tears were definitely shed.
Whilst I haven’t been as invested in this season, I did find myself seeing a lot of our crew in the current batch of lads.
So here are my comparisons – respectfully.
Toby – Is well and truly Normy
The play boy of doom.
You can tell he has no intention of settling down. Originally chicks were off Toby for jumping from girl to girl but after the third repairing you begin to think the girls to blame.
He isn’t changing, so why expect anything more?!
Tyler – This is most definitely Simi
Late to the villa and trying his best to impersonate Toby as a playboy, but it’s just not happening.
His attempt at his triangle of love looks like a straight line right now.
Jake – Not even accounting for the height, this is Chicko
In a solid relationship but giving the worst advice to the single boys as to how they should get to know others girls.
“No regrets bro”. Troublemaker of doom.
Hugo – This is another easy one. Lukey
Definitely the brains and nice guy of our group.
Whoever Lukey finds love with will be a lucky girl.
She’s copping 90 minutes of the best.
Aaron – Kills me to say as he was my favourite, but it’s Ice
Hugo’s mentor in the villa before being voted out.
Never lacks confidence when chatting to the girls, and the chat is always ice cold.
Brad – The good sort of our group, Jacko
Just like Lucinda let Brad leave the villa alone, Jacko openly admits he’s happy to call a night early whilst the cheese & kisses kicks on with the girls.
Teddy – The elder more mature statesman of the group is obviously yours truly
A guy the group relies on for advice and always willing to give constructive criticism.
Loyal as they come and not afraid to get involved in a challenge.
Respectfully of course.
Matt – The new kid on the block, this is Caleb
Surprisingly tall, respectful as anything, overly polite and impossible not to like.
Says fuck all at the best of times too.
